Film: "Ärkamised"

Väidetavalt depressiooni tõttu enesetapu teinud andekas ja mitmekülgne näitleja Robin Williams (21. juuli 1951 - 11. august 2014) mängis 1990. a filmis "Ärkamised" ("Awakenings") psühhiaatrit ja neuroloogi dr Malcolm Sayerit.

"Ärkamised" on USA naisrežissööri Penny Marshalli film, mis põhineb neuroloogi, professor Oliver Sacksi kogemustel lootusetult haigete ravis 1960ndate aastate teisel poolel. Raamatuna on "Ärkamised" saanud väga populaarseks, andes ülevaate, kuidas pikki aastaid peaaegu täielikus liikumatuses  veetnud patsiendid Parkinsoni tõve arstimiseks leiutatud ravimi L-dopa mõjul "ärkavad", taas ilmneb nende inimlikkus, kuni...

Filmis saab dr Sayersi esimeseks patsiendiks ligi 40 aastat koomataolises unes viibinud Leonard Lowe (Robert De Niro). Lapsepõlvest saadik haige Leonardi "ärkamine" on mõjus ja liigutav.

Robin Williamsi ja Robert de Niro mäng selles filmis on väga meisterlik ja varjunditerohke, aga vaatajailt pisaraid välja kiskuv. Film kandideeris ka Oscarile.
